“Today’s Readers, Tomorrow’s Leaders!”

The mission of the school library media program at C. E. Vail Elementary is:

  • to be an integral part of the school and its surrounding community
  • to collaborate with staff to create authentic learning for all students
  • to provide quality resources and instruction to students and staff
  • to promote life-long reading and learning for both pleasure and information.

Helpful Resources - Databases

  EBSCO Host Searchasaurus provides full-text articles on a variety of subjects, including: animals, art and music, health, history, people and places, science and math, sports and stories.  It also includes a dictionary and thesaurus.
 Britannica Online provides an online dictionary, atlas, journal, magazine articles, and educational videos. 
Discovery Education has homework help, interactive games, educational videos and webmath.

BrainPOP  has educational videos and cartoons with activities and games on subjects such as: science, social studies, English, math and health.



AR Reading Program

Students at C. E. Vail participate in the Accelerated Reader program to motivate reading for pleasure.

Students and parents may search for book titles and authors, book levels and point values.  
 Parents may monitor their child’s reading record.
